What a Night!

Last night Max fell asleep on his own, in his big boy bed and remained asleep all night long! This was our goal and our reason for following Ferber's method. The first and second nights of our sleep project were rough; however, by the third night things were greatly improving. We began the bedtime ritual with the usual hygiene practices followed by story time while cuddling in his bed. After reading three books it was hugs and kisses and "good night". After we left his room, Max proceeded to get out of bed. He cried at his gate for about 30 seconds, then fell asleep on his floor and slept all night long. It was the same for nights four and five. By night six, last night, after saying our "good nights" Max stayed in his bed and fell asleep on his own. We didn't hear a peep from him all night long. He was asleep by 8:30pm and I finally woke him up shortly before 8:00 am this morning. We are so proud of our big boy!! And we are all finally getting some sleep around here!

Jonathan and I are in the process of getting Max to sleep alone in his big boy bed all night long. We took this pic Friday night, which was our first night using the "Progressive-Waiting Approach" as recommended in Dr. Richard Ferber's book Solve Your Child's Sleep Problems. Max spent the first couple hours of the evening crying, making a mess of his room, and turning on his lights. We checked on him in progressively longer increments of time, starting at 5 mins and ending at 20 min. He finally passed out on the floor and slept there all night. Poor little guy.

Max Meets Harper!

Bear (aka Jon), Michelle, and their beautiful baby girl, Harper, visited with us last night. They reside in Colorado so we were delighted that they were able to fit us in during their short Michigan visit. Contrary to the look on Bear's face he was very welcoming to Max coming in to hug his little girl.

Gym Class at the Y

Max and I went to a Parent/Tot Tumblers class today at the YMCA in Milford. He enjoyed running around in the neighboring gym more than following directions. But that's how one roles when they're 2 yrs old. And speaking of roles, check out his somersault!

We took Max out for an early dinner once he was feeling better. I took this pic to try and capture how awesome his hair looked after we removed his hat. This picture doesn't really do it any justice so just trust me on this one. His hair was righteous!

Max is Sick

Max had a lil virus running through him last week, Friday, and it caused a mild fever. He was pretty miserable but I enjoyed all the cuddling we were able to do. He wanted to be held all day and I was happy to oblige. He started feeling better by Sunday. He still has a runny nose, but frankly, tis the season. Hopefully that will clear itself up soon enough.

Max's New Hat

Here's Max sporting his new beenie from Grandma Trimble, aka MeMe. During Grandma and Grandpa's last visit Max heard Jacky say "Me?" a couple times and he's been referring to her as MeMe ever since. It's very cute. And to the other Granparents, don't worry. He'll refer to you by names soon enough. He only started calling me Mommy two months ago, so all in due time.
